Opening of the U-19 Professional Baduk Tournament ‘The Star of the Future’

Who will be the strongest rookie who will be responsible for the future of Korean baduk?

The opening ceremony of the 8th Star of the Future, the Strongest New Star, was held on the 4th at the Korea Kiwon Convention Hall먹튀검증.

The opening ceremony was attended by Jeon Yeong-dong and Jeon Ga-il of the ‘Future Star Supporters Association’, Yang Jae-ho, secretary-general of the Korea Foundation, Mok Jin-seok, national team coach, and Park Shin-young, 3rd dan winner of the previous tournament.

The 8th Star of the Future Rookie of the Year competition, in which 48 professional players born after 2004 participated, will be held as a single-round tournament until the finals without distinction between preliminaries and finals.

Thirteen of the 48 contestants were born in 2004, and this is their last challenge, and 20 players who joined in 2022 and 2023 are their first appearances in the competition. Han Woo-jin, 7th Dan, ranked 39th in the Korea Origin rankings, is recording the highest unit and highest ranking among participants in this tournament.

The first round of the future star, which finished the first round on the 3rd, was held with the opening ceremony on the 4th, and the round of 32 was held, followed by the round of 16 on the 5th and the quarterfinals on the 6th. The semifinals and finals will be broadcast live on Go TV on the 17th and 24th.

The winner of the 8th Future Star Rookie Competition, sponsored by the Future Star Supporters Association and hosted and supervised by the Korea Foundation, is 10 million won and the runner-up prize is 5 million won. All games are played in a cumulative time system (Fisher method), and the time limit is 40 minutes each with 30 seconds of additional time.
