After the sabotage controversy, Ronde Hollis Jefferson left KBL and headed to the Philippines. He cannot participate in the East Asian Super League (EASL) Champions Week.
Philippine media 「spin.ph」 recently reported, “Jefferson of TNT Tropang Giga cannot participate in Champions Week due to lack of time to obtain a visa. Jaylen Hudson is returning instead.”
Jefferson was a foreign player at Jeonju KCC in the 2022-23 season. He entered the KBL boasting a brilliant career from the NBA, but he played 38 games and averaged 11 minutes and 28 seconds with 10.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.0 assists. He showed disloyalty during the two games right before he was kicked out, and eventually left Korea for sabotage.
Jefferson,스포츠토토 who signed immediately with PBA (Philippine Professional Basketball) TNT, showed a completely different look at the 2023 PBA Governors Cup, recording 30.0 points, 12.6 rebounds, 7.3 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.3 blocked shots over three games. The PBA, which has an overwhelmingly faster game pace than KBL, and Jefferson’s compatibility was great.
However, Jefferson will not be seen at EASL Champions Week. He tried to get a visa, but the time allotted was short. TNT coach Jojo Rastimosa said, “Jefferson did not have enough time to get a Japanese visa.”
Eventually, TNT brought back Hudson, a former foreign player, to replace Jefferson.
Hudson recorded 33.8 points, 9.3 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks in six games before Jefferson joined. It is evaluated that his scoring ability is superior to Jefferson.
Meanwhile, TNT is in Group A of the EASL Champions Week. They compete against Utsunomiya Brex and Seoul SK and challenge the championship. The departure of Jefferson, who has recently matched hands and feet, is regrettable, but Hudson returned and Daniel Oshepu was newly recruited to reinforce the height. Oshepu is a foreign player from KBL who previously played for Samsung in Seoul.
